After attending our Disciple class, which sets aside time to explore matters of faith in the context of individual and communal reflection, nine students desire to express their commitment to Christ and His Church. Below is their favorite verse, a quote from their “Affirmation of Faith” and the gift they feel God has given them to share with the Church Family.
As members of the Grace Family, we ask that you continue to help guide, equip, and challenge their growth in the love, truth, and purpose of Christ. These students are not simply the “future” of the church, they are a part of the NOW. Welcome them!
- Christopher Robert Rorabaugh (John 3:16, love of nature)"The church is a community of followers of Christ. I want to join the church so I can continue to learn God's word."
- Darren Zachary Smith (2 Corinthians 5:21, leadership, piano) "I want to publically express my faith to my family, friends, and the community…I think they need to know that I want to accept Jesus as my Savior."
- Emma Joan Evarts (Jer. 29:13-14a, helping others and joy) "The 'church' is the community of people who believe in and follow the same faith. I would like to join the church to become closer to God."
- Elizabeth Rose McIlhenney (2 Cor. 12:9, and more!, writing) "I need God as a confidante, a father, a friend. God is caring and kind, He loves us unconditionally, God is the Father of Heaven and Earth."
- Meghan McMurtrie (2 Corinthians 5:21, working with kids) "I need Jesus because He is the One who died on the cross for all of our sins. He gave up His life for us, so we could forget about all of our sins and live in the life of God."
- Morgan Emily Martzall (Romans 3:23, kindness to others) "The church is the community that continues to teach God's word through actions and words. I want to join the church because I want to be a part of spreading God’s Word too."
- Nathan Michael DeBerdine (Romans 5:8, a people person) "I would say Jesus is like a really good guidance counselor. Because, He is with you all the time and He will not let you down."
- Rachel Yuan Olcott (Prov. 16:2, music, writing, photography) "The church is a community of people looking to serve and/or become closer to God. I want to be closer to God and the church and hopefully change my life and others."
- Zac Reitnauer (John 3:16, working with kids, theater) "Without Jesus we would live a life of sin, shame and hate. God is perfect and just, He is also loving, protecting, faithful, and full of grace."
