SNL Back to School SpecialWe had some great adult help last night as we officially kicked off Sunday Night Live with 42 teenagers, including 5 guests. Teens were split into groups to follow a class schedule of activities: Science class: seeking distance and accuracy with a marshmallow catapult. Math class: converting a cookie recipe from ridiculous measurements such as the firkin to be used later on in the night. Home Ec: take the converted recipe and actually make the cookies. Adventure Ed: get your team up and over the invisible wall without touching it.
At Sunday morning Encounter, we called the teens out and challenged them to step up to the plate: The culture around us says that the teen years are typically a time of irresponsible, immature, lazy, selfish living...And it's rare that anyone challenges that mindset because "We were once teens too" and "They'll grow up eventually" or "They'll find their way in or after college". What kind of low standard have we set for our teens? God sees great use and potential for your teen NOW and there is so much more they can be pursuing.
1 Timothy 4:12: Don't let anyone look down on you because you're young, but set an example for all believers in what you say, in how you live, in how you love, in your faith and in your purity.
I believe they are called for more...God believes they are called for more. Challenge your teens to dig deeper in their faith, purpose and impact NOW. Fight the culture outside that sets the bar low and seek God's standard.

This is a national event taking place at schools across the country; bringing students together around the purpose of prayer. Students should meet at their school's flagpole at 7am for prayer and worship. I plan to attend Penn Manor's event.
Thursday, 6:30-9pm: Deeper Bible Study
We've tweeked our plan again and will be going through just 3 days of the E100 Challenge each week. This week we are doing Days 56, 57, and 58. We've been getting so in depth with our study that we need to pull back the reading amount.
The passages are: Matthew 5:1-6:4; Matthew 6:4-7:29; Matthew 13:1-58

Sunday Morning Encounter, 10-11am
We continue with our challenge to step up to God's standard of being an example to everyone by looking at what God believes teenagers can accomplish NOW.
Philly Sharing Prep Meeting, 12:30-2:30pm
We're getting ready for our October 25th Luncheon. This is for all participants from our summer service trip to Philadelphia. Pizza will be served as we try to put concrete details to the great ideas we came up with last month.
Sunday Night Live, 6:30-8:30pm
We hope to see another great turnout as we have a more "normal" Sunday Night Live experience. We've got a good night of fellowship planned around God's truth!
