One of our biggest ministry needs is getting adults more involved. A big component to making that happen is putting into place organization and system. This week I will be working with Laura Henry who will be serving as our volunteer coordinator. We will never ask you to do something you're not comfortable with (i.e. teach Sunday school) but we need extra eyes, ears and bodies all the time!
With as many parents as we have, you don't need to expect to help us out more than once every 2-3 months in terms of Sunday nights, mornings, etc. We also have bigger events that we need help with as well. If you would be interested in serving in a more consistent/specific role, please let me know. Thank you!!
Deeper Bible Study
We are no longer meeting for Bible study on Thursday nights. Starting Feb 12th we will begin Disciple, a community, discussion focused interaction with God's Word and life. Similar to Alpha, teens will really grow as they ask hard questions. See more info below.
Wednesday Afternoons, 3:45-5:15 (This week: Genesis 20-27)
Our Wednesday group is drawing a larger crowd than ever before! This is a great way to get your teen involved in studying the Scriptures as we make our way through Genesis. Bring a Bible, pen and notebook.
Super Bowl Party: Sunday February 1st, 5:45pm to the end of the game
Although the Bears and Eagles won't be playing, I'm sure it will be a fun night of football and food. We're asking teens to bring some sort of food or drink that night to help...Last names A-L, bring a snack such as brownies or chips, Last name M-Z bring a drink. We will most likely pick up some pizza as well.
Youth Band: Feb 1st and 8th, 5-6:30pm in the Gym
Youth Band WILL practice this Sunday, 5-6:30pm. They will be leading worship in Souljourn on March 1st! Practice in February will be held on the 1st and 8th. For more information, contact Paul Commero: Paul@garmanbuilders.com
Ten Shekel Shirt Concert, Fri Feb 6th 6:30pm @LBC
An amazing night of music and experience, all the proceeds (including a love offering) go to Love 146, an organization seeking to end child slavery and exploitation. This is a great concert for the whole family to enjoy. Tickets are $12 at the door, but can be purchased for $10 from Justin.
Teen Work Day: Saturday Feb 7th, Noon-2:30pm
We begin making our transition to our new meeting space (Coming in March!) and we need lots of help moving stuff and painting walls.
Disciple: Starts Thursday Feb 12th
Similar to Alpha, this is great opportunity for teens no matter their knowledge or involvement with church, God, etc to come learn the basic story of God, His people and what it means for their everyday lives. An interactive time of teaching is followed by small group discussion around any and every question your teen may have about God or life.
*For those who would like to, we will meet for dinner at 6pm at a local restaurant (House of Pizza 2/12, Jack's 2/19) before walking up to the church. Disciple runs from 7-8:30pm*
Dance Ministry: Feb 8th and 22nd, 5-6:30pm in Grace Room
Not only do the girls learn to dance, they have a wonderful time of small group sharing and devotions. There's always room for more! Practice in February will be held on the 8th and 22nd (5-6:30 in the Grace Room) For more information, contact Sara Habecker: sara.habecker2@yti.edu
Dodgeball Tournament: Sunday February 15th at Messiah College
(TEAM ROSTER IS FULL, NO SUNDAY NIGHT LIVE gathering that night)
We're heading back to Messiah College for our third Dodgeball Tournament, this time to defend our championship title. We still need drivers/cheerleaders for the day, so please let me know if you could help us out. We'll meet at the church at 11:30am and will be back no later than 8:30pm, most likely closer to 8. There is a time of worship at the end of the tournament. Teens MUST bring $10 and permission slip in order to participate. Lunch and snacks are available for purchase.
Dude Night. Friday Feb 20th, 7pm-Midnight
We're having a night of intense competition so come guys should prepare for games such as Capture the Flag Assault and Dodgeball. Cost is $5, which includes pizza and snacks.
Girls PJ Party! Saturday Feb 21st, 6pm-11pm
We're playing board games, watching the movie FIREPROOF and having some great conversation. Bring your favorite snacks, board games, PJs and blanket! Cost is $2 to cover cost of pizza.
