Back to school! Some of you might be thrilled to have a little more peace and quiet in your house now that the kids are back to their educational pursuits! I feel I need a break from the break! It seemed Jenna and I were heading somewhere with someone every single day since Christmas Eve, finishing it up with a no-sleep lock in, yikes! I'm looking forward to getting back into a normal groove.

This Sunday I get the privilege to preach at my dad's installation service at Community Bible Church in Marietta. It's an exciting and humbling opportunity that I can't wait to be apart of.

Parent Meeting: January 25th, 6:30-8:30pm in the Youth Room (During SNL)
There's no important sport event taking place on this day so I expect to see a great turnout! Please spread the word to other parents you know...Gently remind those who you think might forget, and invite parents who may not even be very involved or involved at all. We will be laying out some exciting new opportunities (from our new youth room to our summer service trip) and the direction we're going with the youth ministry, taking questions, and I'm in need of your wisdom as well. *Please plan to attend and bring a friend!*

NEEDS:
Sunday Morning
We need to have more adults involved in our Sunday morning meeting time. With the numbers we've been seeing we should have at least 4 adults in the room at a time. You don't have to worry about teaching the class, but we need your presence! Skills required: eyes that can see, a mouth that can speak and a body to be present. If it would be helpful, I will put together a sign up sheet for the Parent Class on Sundays.

Sunday Night Live
Like Sunday mornings, we need more adults to be present on Sunday nights. Again, if a sign up sheet is needed, we can start passing one around.

SNL this Sunday, 6:30-8:30pm:
"New Life" What does it really mean to have new life in Christ?
We welcome Paul Commero as our special guest as he will share how Christ has transformed his life through the power of His grace, truth and love. It's a great opportunity for teens to hear a firsthand experience of what it looks like to follow Jesus.

Jan 18: Guy/Girl Night
Jan 25: Dodgeball Night in preparation for our Feb 15th Tournament!

Helping with Kid's Night at Otterbein, Thursdays in January
Starting on Thursday January 8th, our church is helping out with Otterbein UMC's Kid Night, which is a weekly program for inner city kids. We're helping out for the 4 Thursday nights in January by helping run a simple hour long program that includes a craft, song time, game and short lesson. This is a great opportunity for teens as well as families to support a great ministry. If you or your child would be interested, please let me know. The time commitment is from 5:45-7:30pm and there's no specific skills needed except for simply giving your time and presence.

Deeper Bible Study

There is NO DEEPER on Thursday January 15th
We reviewed the end of Genesis on the 8th, and will study Exodus 1-5 on the 22nd. This is a great time for your teen to get involved at the start of a Bible study. Bring a Bible, pen and notebook.

Wednesday Afternoons, 3:45-5:15, Mid-way through Genesis
Can't make it out Thursday night? How about after school on Wednesdays? We're mid way through Genesis right now but no worries, we'll catch your child up quickly. Again, bring a Bible, pen and notebook.

Imagine the Impact: Friday January 16th 3-5:30pm

We're trying it again, we're looking for teens who are interested in dreaming, planning and taking part in the youth ministry in a deeper way. If your teen is looking for leadership, ownership and involvement in the group, this is the time to do it.

Ice Skating at Clipper Stadium, Saturday Jan 17th, 7-9:30pm
We'll meet over at Clipper Stadium for ice skating. It costs $6 to skate and $3 for rentals.

Youth Band and Dance Ministry
Thank you to the four girls who shared their dance this past Sunday at our Souljourn services! If your teen girl would like to be apart of the next dance, there's always room! Dance practices every Sunday in January from 5-6:30pm. If you want more information, contact Sara Habecker:
sara.habecker2@yti.edu

Youth Band will practice every Sunday in January from 5-6:30pm and will be leading worship in Souljourn on March 1st! If you would like to get more information, contact Paul Commero:
Paul@garmanbuilders.com

Super Bowl Party: Sunday February 1st, 5:45pm to the end of the game
Although the Bears won't be playing, I'm sure it will be a fun night of football and food. And hey, the Eagles could maybe even make it! We're asking that teens bring some sort of food or drink that night to help...Last names A-L, bring a snack such as brownies or chips, Last name M-Z bring a drink. We will most likely pick up some pizza as well.

Dodgeball Tournament: Sunday February 15th at Messiah College
We're heading back up for our third Dodgeball Tournament with a few differences: 1) We're going back to defend our championship from the past fall. 2) The tournament is once again being held at Messiah College which means 4 large courts to play on and 3) We're going to be kept to a strict 25 person team roster which means we will most likely need to put together 2 teams. We're again looking for drivers and will most likely be sticking to the same time schedule of 11:30am-8pm as a time of worship is held at the end of the tournament.
